Inside Huizhou's "Two Sessions": accelerating AI and robotics development

From February 3 to February 6, Huizhou is holding its annual "Two Sessions"—the annual meetings of the city's legislative and political advisory body. The city is located in Guangdong Province, on the eastern side of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. This year, Huizhou announced the creation of a dedicated institution for the artificial intelligence and robotics industry.

Let's take a closer look at this Chinese city that is moving faster than ever. Over the past five years, Huizhou has recorded the fastest GDP growth rate in Guangdong Province. The city has strong petrochemical and electronic information industries. Four sectors—smart terminals, new energy storage, core electronic components, and ultra-high-definition video—have each reached a scale of over 100 billion yuan.

Now, Huizhou is looking to its next growth frontier. Two key words: AI and robots. Huizhou will set up a dedicated agency for the AI and robotics industry, with a clear focus on: core components for AI servers, service robots, intelligent connected vehicles, embodied AI robots and autonomous vehicles, and emerging sectors such as the low-altitude economy.

Looking ahead to the next five years, the city has set a clear goal: to become a city with one-trillion-yuan GDP and a population of ten million. Welcome to Huizhou. A Chinese city where industry, technology and green living move forward together.
