China's 15th National Games torch relay featured a unique participant: Kuafu, a humanoid robot developed by Leju Robotics, a Shenzhen-based company specializing in intelligent robotics for industrial, commercial, and public service applications. The project was supported by China Mobile, the Harbin Institute of Technology, and the Beijing Institute for General Artificial Intelligence, making Kuafu the world's first 5G-A humanoid torchbearer. It carried a 1.6-kg torch over 100 meters with lifelike running movements.
The robot is named after Kuafu, a giant figure from Chinese mythology who famously chased the sun. The name reflects the robot's dynamic motion and endurance, symbolizing speed, determination, and technological ambition.
Kuafu's motion-control system, load-balancing algorithms, and 5G-A connectivity allowed precise execution without human assistance. The robot was a standard production model, demonstrating versatility for exhibition, industrial, and high-dynamic tasks.
Throughout 2025, Kuafu has made numerous appearances on both national and international stages, showcasing its capabilities across sports, cultural, and technological events.
