On March 30, the 11th Council Meeting of the Foshan People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries was held, bringing together over 100 representatives from government, business, and academia to map out a new blueprint for Foshan's people-to-people international exchanges and cooperation.
Over the past five years, the association has actively expanded Foshan's global network of sister cities. To date, Foshan has established friendly ties with 17 cities in 13 countries across five continents, building multi-level platforms for exchanges in trade, culture, and youth engagement.
A new council has now been formed, comprising 83 member organizations—including government departments, public institutions, chambers of commerce, and enterprises—along with 25 specially invited overseas council members from around the world, creating a strong bridge for Foshan to connect with and engage globally.
At the event, 12 overseas council representatives from countries including Singapore, the United Kingdom, and Romania were presented with certificates of appointment.
This year marks APEC "China Year." The new council will leverage this opportunity to build new platforms for Asia-Pacific cooperation, deepen people-to-people exchanges, expand its international sister-city network, strengthen trade collaboration to drive high-quality economic growth, and promote cultural exchange to better tell Foshan's story to the world.
The event also featured two salon discussions on Foshan manufacturing and cultural outreach.
