Guangdong's Xiangyunsha gets "digital ID"

The three-day 2025 Foshan Shunde Lunjiao Xiangyunsha China-Chic "Intangible Cultural Heritage" Experience Festival was launched on June 20 at Lunjiao Fisherman's Wharf · Liangyuan.

Since 2008, the Xiangyunsha dyeing techniques have been inscribed as China's National Intangible Cultural Heritage. Lunjiao has continued to strengthen protections for this ancient craft, revitalizing traditional artistry in the modern era.

A blockchain-backed Xiangyunsha Traceability System debuted at the event. Five enterprises—Chengyi Shailang Factory, Yuanfa Shailang Factory, Shunxi Shailang Factory, Shunxi Trading Co., Ltd., and Qinglang Crop Science Co., Ltd.—became the first recipients of official "Golden QR Code" certifications.

To affirm Lunjiao's status as the authentic origin of Xiangyunsha (gambiered Guangdong gauze) and combat market issues like counterfeiting and quality misrepresentation, Lunjiao established a geographical indication traceability platform. This system generates anti-counterfeiting QR codes that record key production stages—including origin verification, raw material sourcing, traditional sun-bleaching (Shailang) techniques, and artisan identification—on an immutable blockchain. Each fabric bolt receives a unique "Digital ID," enabling end-to-end "one-item-one-code" origin tracking.
