A sweet visit in Jiangmen: Nauru delegation delighted by innovative Chinese candy

On February 10, President David Adeang of the Republic of Nauru led a delegation to Jiangmen, Guangdong Province, beginning a visit focused on industry, innovation and cultural exchange. The visit marked his return to Guangdong seven months after a previous journey to trace his ancestral roots.

During the visit, the delegation toured LONGi Green Energy Technology Co., Ltd. in Heshan, Amos Food Group, and the Bird Paradise Wetland Park, experiencing Guangdong's development achievements across new energy manufacturing, modern food production and ecological conservation.

At Amos, the atmosphere quickly turned lively. Guests sampled a range of products, from peelable mango gummies to interactive candies designed for global consumers. Today, Amos products are sold in more than 80 countries and regions, including the United States, Japan and France, making it the only Chinese candy brand present in mainstream international markets.

One product in particular caught everyone's attention: the Amos Music Lollipop. With a built-in music chip inside the handle, the lollipop plays a short tune at the press of a button while it is being enjoyed. Members of the delegation described it as "innovative," "creative," and "very different," noting how sound, music and taste came together in a single experience.

"This really shifts your focus to the music," said Isabella Dageago, Deputy Speaker of Parliament and Cabinet Minister of Nauru. "It's not just about the flavor — it's something new."

Reagan Aliklik, Nauru's Minister for Fisheries, also highlighted the uniqueness of the product, saying that it was the combination of sound, music and candy itself that made it stand out.

Amos Food Group President Amos Ma said the visit opened unexpected connections. After learning that Nauru holds candy-giving activities every Easter, he announced plans to donate a full container of candy to Nauru for public distribution later this year. "Our brand theme this year is 'Amos invites people around the world to eat candy,'" he said.

Before the visit concluded, President Adeang presented the company with a commemorative coin issued by the Republic of Nauru, symbolizing both historical remembrance and hopes for deeper cooperation in the future.
