In Xinhui District of Jiangmen, Guangdong, locally grown citrus peels are aged into chenpi—dried tangerine peel prized as "soft gold" for its value.
The process from fresh fruit to finished product relies on a stable power supply. During the busy harvest season, freshly picked citrus must be cleaned on the same day. Inside processing plants, automated equipment runs continuously to maintain quality standards.

"We've had a bumper harvest this year," said a representative of a local business. "Each day, we process about 100,000 kilograms of fresh citrus, and all of it needs to be washed first. Our new facility has two automated cleaning lines, which must run for more than 12 hours a day. A stable power supply is essential for this initial stage of processing."
To meet the power needs of local businesses, China Southern Power Grid (CSG) dispatches "Electric Stewards" to carry out safety inspections and help eliminate potential hazards.
Reliable electricity keeps processing equipment running smoothly and allows storage to proceed without being affected by weather conditions, protecting the quality of the peel from the very beginning.

The name "soft gold" comes from chenpi's distinctive flavor and the fact that its value increases with age. However, storing it requires highly specific conditions. Excess moisture can cause mold, while too little humidity can halt the aging process.
Inside the storage rooms, rows of iron cases are equipped with temperature and humidity sensors, as well as ventilation systems, all monitored around the clock. If conditions shift, air conditioning, dehumidifiers, and fans automatically activate to restore the optimal environment.
To support the Chenpi industry, the local power supply bureau spent three years upgrading the grid in key storage areas, significantly improving reliability.

At the same time, smart drone inspections are used to monitor power lines. This provides steady support for the long aging process.
From the orchard to the workshop and finally to the climate-controlled storage centers, electricity is essential at every stage of making chenpi. This reliable support helps Xinhui chenpi develop its signature rich and mellow aroma.
