"Xing! Xing! Xing! Shun! Shun! Shun!" The distinctive Chaozhou chant, meaning "Prosperity! Smoothness!", filled the streets on March 12 at the Qinglong Temple Fair. Local and international visitors marched together, soaking in the festive vibes.
Ethiopian student Wengelawit Desalegn Tessema, who studies in Wuhan, Hubei, and came with her Chaozhou classmates, said her favorite part was shouting "Xing! Xing! Xing! Shun! Shun! Shun!" with everyone.
Nigerian guest Maximus Ogbonna, visiting with his wife for the Chinese New Year, joined the parade for the first time. "Chaozhou's intangible cultural heritage is amazing. I'll come again next year."
