The torch relay for China's 15th National Games launched simultaneously in Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Hong Kong, and Macao on November 2, marking the first-ever cross-boundary torch relay for China's National Games.
A standout highlight of this year's relay is the flame itself: the torches' "source fire" was collected from a deep-sea ecosystem located 1,522 meters below the surface in the northern South China Sea.
This achievement marks the 15th National Games as the first major global sports event to use a deep-sea-sourced flame. The innovation showcases China's advanced deep-sea technology while honoring the Olympic spirit by promoting tech-driven collaboration.
The torch relay began on the morning of Nov. 2. Following the relay sessions in each of the four cities, representatives returned their respective flames to Guangzhou.
In the afternoon, a flame-integration ceremony of the torch fires from the four cities took place in Guangzhou. The integrated flame will serve for the upcoming 15th National Games opening ceremony's torch run and the lighting of the main cauldron.
The flame integration on Nov. 2 signifies that the flame of the 15th National Games, after being jointly lit in the four cities on November 2, has ultimately converged in one city—Guangdong—symbolizing unity among the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area cities.
