Jiaomenhe International Neighborhood: A cross-cultural hub takes shape in Guangdong

In the China (Guangdong) Pilot Free Trade Zone in Nansha District, Guangzhou, the Jiaomenhe International Neighborhood is becoming a model of global living. It's home to people from more than 40 countries, including Russia, Germany, and Canada, and has been called a "city living room" for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

In December 2022, the Jiaomenhe International Neighborhood was selected as one of Guangzhou's first-batch pilot international neighborhoods (the only one in Nansha). In July 2025, it was recognized as one of the first "INFO Guangdong International Community Information Service Centers" in Guangdong and launched its mascot "JOY (Jiaobao)."

The neighborhood combines modern facilities with community activities. It has approximately 7,000 homes, 20,000 apartments, and over 12,700 companies, many of which operate in high-tech fields such as AI and new energy vehicles. Residents enjoy easy access to shops, hotels, libraries, and hospitals, while Jiaomen Park offers a green space to relax.

What truly stands out are the cultural events. In June 2025, a gala in Jiaomen Park featured Cantonese opera, African drumming, and Indian singing, bringing together a multitude of residents. Regular activities like fruit-picking, language exchanges, and tea meetings encourage interaction between Chinese and foreign neighbors on a daily basis.

Jiaomenhe also aims to be a hub for business and new ideas. The INFO Guangdong International Community Information Service Center assists overseas professionals in settling in more easily. The friendly mascot "JOY (Jiaobao)" was introduced as a symbol of the area's welcoming spirit.
