China proposed openness, innovation and cooperation as the three priorities for the APEC "China Year," and "Building an Asia-Pacific Community to Prosper Together" as its theme at the APEC Informal Senior Officials' Meeting (ISOM) on December 12 in Shenzhen.
"APEC presents a wonderful opportunity for some of the world's largest economies to work together, find common ground for future development, and generate new ideas—whether on innovation, connectivity, or deeper cooperation," said Eduardo Pedrosa, Executive Director of the APEC Secretariat.
He further stated that the theme and priorities will give member economies a stronger platform to work together and tackle shared challenges, including emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence.
