In winter, at the Maoming Shuidong Bay Marine Park in Guangdong Province, recreational vehicles (RVs) from all over the country are parked in an orderly manner. People are either sitting and chatting leisurely or strolling in small groups, enjoying the warm sunshine.
Maoming has an average annual temperature of around 23℃. With its superior climate conditions and abundant mountain and sea resources, it has been selected as a winter habitat for migratory-style elderly care in China. In recent years, the supporting facilities for the cultural tourism and health care industry have been gradually improved, making it a popular choice for RV tourists to stay and escape the cold in winter.
This winter, the number of RVs parked at the RV camp in the marine park has increased by about 50% compared to the peak seasons in previous years, with hundreds of parking spaces fully occupied. Gemei Sea Park is also a popular destination, and even Yuhu Park in downtown Dianbai District has seen several out-of-town RVs parked there.
"The winter here is like the spring and autumn in our hometown. It's very comfortable to stay here, and I will come again next year," said Tang Jinzhong from Nanjing, who praised Maoming's pleasant winter climate, unique coastal scenery, and simple folk customs.
The marine park's RV camp is equipped with water and electricity to meet basic living needs. Located near residential areas, it offers easy access to daily amenities, with a food market and a wide range of restaurants within two kilometers.
"Parking costs only 5 yuan per day, with dedicated cleaning staff and regular cleaning of the public restrooms in the adjacent park, ensuring a clean and safe environment," said Yang. After arriving in winter, he traveled to Fangchenggang, Beihai, and Zhanjiang in his RV. He said that Maoming is one of the most cost-effective and recommended RV travel destinations.
