Huazhou, in Maoming City, Guangdong Province, has been nominated as a National Civilized City (county-level) for the 2025–2027 cycle, recognizing its comprehensive urban progress.

The city has seen visible improvements: refurbished roads, upgraded farmers' markets, expanded green spaces covering 41.18% of the area, and strengthened flood control systems. An intelligent urban management platform is underway to enhance public services.
Citizen welfare is a priority. Projects include renovated neighborhoods, new recreational facilities, and programs promoting traditional cultural heritage. Enhanced senior care and children's amenities help foster a caring, community-oriented environment.
Public participation is central to Huazhou's success. Residents contribute through feedback channels and an active volunteer network, while new social practices—such as tree-planting celebrations—are gaining popularity.
