Zhanjiang youth shine at "Telling China's Stories in English" Event

More than 100 middle school students in Zhanjiang, Guangdong, have showcased China's cultural heritage through taking part in a "Telling China's Stories in English" event. Centered on the theme of cultural heritage, the event featured speeches, drama, and multimedia presentations that highlighted both traditional and contemporary Chinese culture.

Through creative stage performances, students brought classic stories to life, including the legend of Hua Mulan, the tale of the Nian Beast, and the fable of the Foolish Old Man Moving Mountains.

Local Lingnan culture also took center stage, with performances incorporating Leiju Opera, the Donghai Human-Dragon Dance, and Suixi Fish Lanterns, offering audiences a vivid glimpse into the region's cultural traditions.

With fluent English and imaginative staging, the students showcased strong language skills alongside growing cultural confidence. The event provided a dynamic platform for young people to share Chinese stories with the world, promoting cross-cultural exchange and mutual understanding.
