Notice by the Yunfu Municipal People's Government on Establishing No-Hunting Zones and Hunting Periods for Terrestrial Wildlife
To further protect terrestrial wildlife resources, maintain biodiversity, promote ecological civilization, and foster harmonious coexistence between human and nature, and in accordance with the Wildlife Protection Law of the People's Republic of China, the Regulations for the Implementation of the People's Republic of China on the Protection of Terrestrial Wildlife, the Wildlife Protection and Management Regulations of Guangdong Province, and other relevant laws and regulations, the Yunfu Municipal People's Government, based on local conditions, has decided to establish no-hunting zones and hunting periods for terrestrial wildlife within its jurisdiction. The details are as follows:
1. No-Hunting Zones
The entire administrative region of Yunfu City is designated as a no-hunting zone. Within this zone, illegal hunting or killing of terrestrial wildlife is prohibited, as is the destruction of habitats and environments where terrestrial wildlife live and breed.
2. Protected Wildlife
The terrestrial wildlife protected under this notice includes those listed in the National Key Protected Wildlife List, the Guangdong Provincial Key Protected Wildlife List, and the List of Terrestrial Wildlife with Important Ecological, Scientific, and Social Value. It also covers other terrestrial wildlife whose hunting is prohibited by laws, regulations, and national or provincial provisions.
3. Prohibited Hunting Methods
The use of the following tools and methods for hunting is strictly prohibited: poisons, explosives, electric shocks or electronic devices, hunting snares, traps, bird nets, ground guns, muzzle-loading firearms, air guns (pneumatic devices), tranquilizers, pellet guns (stun guns), steel traps, ground bows, suspended poles, steel wire loops, spiked devices, electric grids (or other electric tools), slingshots, javelins, adhesive nets, high-frequency sound devices, or any other automated devices that endanger human and animal safety. Prohibited hunting methods also include night lighting, extermination hunts, nest destruction, fire attacks, smoke fumigation, netting, shooting, throwing sharp objects, flooding, sound-based luring, setting traps, or collecting eggs.
4. Hunting Period
The no-hunting zones will observe a year-round hunting prohibition.
5. Exceptions
For purposes such as scientific research, population regulation, disease monitoring, epidemic prevention, or other special circumstances that require the capture of wildlife for non-consumptive use, prior approval must be obtained according to the law. Hunting must be conducted strictly in accordance with the approved methods and tools.
6. Legal Liability
Violations of this notice will result in administrative penalties imposed by the relevant administrative authorities under the Wildlife Protection Law of the People's Republic of China, the Regulations on the Protection of Terrestrial Wildlife of the People's Republic of China, the Wildlife Protection and Management Regulations of Guangdong Province, and other related laws and regulations. Criminal liability will be pursued for actions that constitute a crime.
7. Reporting Hotline
All organizations and individuals have the duty to protect terrestrial wildlife resources and their habitats. Illegal activities such as the consumption, hunting, trading, transport, processing, or smuggling of terrestrial wildlife should be reported to the relevant authorities (hotlines: Yunfu Municipal Forestry Bureau: 0766-8831599, Yunfu Public Security Bureau: 110).
8. Effective Date
This notice will take effect on December 1, 2024, and remain valid until November 30, 2029.
