Recently, the Square Dance Competition of the Maonan District National Fitness Games in Maoming City, Guangdong Province, kicked off at the East Area of Boqiao Service Area. This event gathered nearly 300 enthusiasts from 23 dance teams across towns and sub-districts in Maonan.
Mr. Li from Guangxi, who was passing through on a business trip, specifically stayed to watch and remarked, "I used to think service areas were just places for refueling and resting. I never expected to see such energetic square dances here. I immediately took videos and shared them with my friends." A tourist from Hunan also praised the dancers, saying, "They are brimming with youthful vitality on stage. Watching them makes me feel younger myself!"
Aunt Li from the Gongguan Town dance team said, "In the past, we only danced in the village square. This time, we can perform at Boqiao Service Area and interact with audiences from all over. I'm really happy."
As Guangdong's first lychee culture-themed service area, Boqiao Service Area has long transcended the traditional function of a "highway rest stop." This square dance competition is not only a practice of promoting national fitness in Maonan District but also an innovative exploration of the integration of "culture, sports + cultural tourism."
