Guangdong, China's manufacturing heartland, has launched a new campaign to help its factories tap into fast-growing online retail channels more directly, as part of a broader effort to modernize supply chains and boost domestic consumption.
At an event held on December 3 at the Vipshop E-commerce Industrial Center in Guangzhou, provincial officials unveiled a program linking major industrial clusters with leading e-commerce platforms. From December 3 until December 31, the province will host 100 livestream sales events to promote locally made products and help manufacturers secure new orders at a time when China is looking to stimulate spending and strengthen its industrial competitiveness.

Guangdong remains a pillar of the national economy. It accounts for around one-eighth of China's industrial output and encompasses all 31 major industrial categories, with 15 ranking first nationwide. The new push will focus on high-quality producers, including China's "little giant" enterprises—high-performing, tech-driven SMEs known for specialized products and rapid growth. Target sectors range from electronics and home appliances to toys, beauty goods, clothing, and auto parts.
Under the plan, manufacturers will receive training in e-commerce operations and support in joining major platforms such as Alibaba, JD.com, and Vipshop, while platforms are encouraged to offer easier onboarding and preferential terms. Local authorities will also supervise participating companies to ensure high product standards and reliable after-sales service.

Before the end of 2025, the province will also host more than 20 major matchmaking events connecting manufacturers with buyers, aiming to secure real orders and expand market reach. Officials say Guangdong has already organized over 50 such events this quarter, generating more than CNY 290 billion (over USD 40 billion) in potential deals. In 2026, the province plans to scale up these efforts and further enhance the regional brand of Guangdong-made goods.
