A new industrial cooperation park between Shenzhen's Nanshan District and Jiangmen's Jianghai District officially opened on November 5, establishing a cross-city partnership aimed at combining innovation resources with manufacturing strength. The park, located in the Jiangmen Hi-tech Industrial Development Zone, will focus on strategic sectors such as safety emergency response, new-generation electronics, high-end equipment, and biomedicine.

The collaboration follows a clear division of labor: Nanshan, home to tech giants like Tencent and Huawei and over 5,500 national high-tech enterprises, will provide R&D capabilities, while Jianghai offers production space and cost advantages. This "R&D-Transformation" model addresses challenges faced by Shenzhen-based firms, such as limited space and high operating costs, while leveraging Jiangmen's established manufacturing infrastructure.

One early participant, Link-touch, a Beijing-based robotics components manufacturer, plans to set up an R&D center in Shenzhen while expanding production in Jiangmen. "Shenzhen has a dense talent and innovation ecosystem, but Jiangmen offers lower costs and ample space," said Liu Wuyue, the company's general manager. "With the newly opened Shenzhen-Zhongshan Link, travel between the two cities takes about an hour, making collaboration efficient."

The park is part of broader regional integration efforts. Following the openings of the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Link and the Huangmao Sea Channel Bridge, Jiangmen now lies within a one-hour economic circle of Shenzhen, strengthening logistics and supply chain connectivity. Port coordination between Jiangmen's Gaoxin Port and Shenzhen's Yantian/Shekou ports also facilitates streamlined freight movement.
