The Ancient Banyan Literature Village—part of the Nankunshan–Luofushan High-Quality Development Zone—was inaugurated on October 20 in Zhongxin Village, Mazha Town, Longmen County, Huizhou. The event, held alongside "Mo Yan Tours Huizhou: Challenging You to a Couplet," brought together prominent literary figures including Nobel laureate Mo Yan, Vice Chairman of the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles Pan Lusheng, and Mao Dun Literature Prize winner Ge Fei.

Located along Huizhou's scenic tourism highway, the Ancient Banyan Literature Village revitalizes rural life through a literary theme. The project includes a literature-themed maze park, distinctive art installations, and renovated historic buildings repurposed into multi-functional spaces such as the Granary Bookstore—a lively hub combining reading, coffee, and cultural creativity. The initiative aims to build a new literary tourism landmark in the Guangdong–Hong Kong–Macao Greater Bay Area, transforming cultural resources into tangible assets and injecting fresh vitality into rural revitalization.

During the event, winners of the "Mo Yan's Visit to Huizhou: Couplet Challenge" were announced, alongside cultural activities such as "Dialogue with the Ancient Banyan Literature Village." Organizers also announced that the village will host a national couplet competition annually over the next three years, starting this year.
