Guangdong embraces cloudy weather in first week of work after CNY holiday

As we usher in the first week of work after the festive Chinese New Year celebrations, a sense of renewed energy and anticipation fills the air. The weather too seems to be gearing up for a dynamic start, with a mix of rain and snow forecasted for many regions.

In China, particularly in the southern parts, a period of light rainfall is expected from February 5th to 7th. The precipitation will initially hit areas from the eastern part of Southwest China to Guangxi, expanding eastward to cover most of Jiangnan (regions south of the Yangtze River) by the 6th, reaching its peak in terms of geographical coverage.

On the 7th, while the scope of rainfall will diminish, some regions may witness a brief transition to snow or sleet due to decreasing temperatures, particularly in parts of Guizhou, southwestern Hubei, northern Hunan, and northern Zhejiang. Starting from the 8th, as dry and cold air takes over, precipitation in the south will end, and skies will clear up.

Specifically in Guangdong Province, forecasts predict mostly cloudy to overcast skies with scattered morning and evening fog on the 5th and 6th, accompanied by isolated light rain in northern and eastern coastal areas. Temperatures across the province are expected to rise slightly during this period.

However, a new cold front will arrive between the 7th and 8th, causing temperatures to dip again by 3 to 5 degrees Celsius, with northern and central Guangdong experiencing a change from light rain to overcast conditions.
