Chaozhou's GDP grows by 5.0% in first three quarters of 2025

On October 29, the Chaozhou Municipal Bureau of Statistics released a brief report on the operation of Chaozhou's regional economy in the first three quarters of 2025: the city's gross domestic product (GDP) reached 104.252 billion yuan, with a year-on-year growth of 5.0%. 

The economic aggregate in the third quarter reached a historic peak, and the growth rate was 1.3 percentage points higher than that of the same period last year, according to the report.

Data indicate that Chaozhou's economic development in the first three quarters of 2025 has generally maintained a steady momentum of progress. In terms of growth, the added value of the primary industry stood at 9.548 billion yuan, an increase of 5.6%; the added value of the secondary industry reached 47.406 billion yuan, achieving a 4.1% growth; and the added value of the tertiary industry reached 47.297 billion yuan, an increase of 5.6%. The growth rate in the first three quarters of this year was 1 percentage point and 1.3 percentage points higher than that of 2024 and the same period last year, respectively.

In terms of industrial growth, in the first three quarters, the added value of industrial enterprises above designated size in the city increased by 1.2% year-on-year. From the perspective of industrial categories, the manufacturing industry increased by 0.8%; the production and supply of electricity, heat power, gas, and water increased by 2.4%, with the gas production and supply industry increasing by 13.2%. Industrial production maintained steady growth.

Turning to finance and people's well-being, by the end of September, savings deposits in Renminbi and foreign currencies in all financial institutions in the city totaled 232.905 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 6.9%. Among them, household deposits amounted to 180.418 billion yuan, with a 7.9% growth. Loans in Renminbi and foreign currencies in all financial institutions hit 97.848 billion yuan, expanding by 9.2%.
