Nearly 600 cyclists compete in Binhaiwan Bay Area for GBA Cycling Challenge

The 2025 Greater Bay Area Urban Cycling Challenge kicked off on October 19 in the Binhaiwan Bay Area, Dongguan City. The event attracted numerous renowned teams from Hong Kong, Macao, Guangzhou, and Dongguan, delivering a thrilling competition for cycling enthusiasts.

As a key sporting event celebrating the upcoming 15th National Games, this challenge serves not only as a regional sports brand but also as a platform for economic growth, public fitness, and enhanced exchanges within the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. Since its inception in 2021, the event has been held annually in the Binhaiwan Bay Area, drawing over 2,000 cycling enthusiasts from across the country.

The Binhaiwan Bay Area has meticulously crafted a racecourse that is both challenging and scenic. Spanning 4.2 kilometers, the circuit starts from the Binhaiwan International Innovation and Entrepreneurship Community and features a smooth, straight path that allows participants to push their limits while enjoying the area's urban development and natural beauty.

This year, the event retained competitive categories for both men's and women's road racing, as well as a recreational group, while also introducing a special "Children's Balance Bike" category. This inclusion aims to make cycling fun and accessible for all age groups, fostering community-wide participation and enjoyment.

Jin Zichun, a member of the Hong Kong Success Ez Rolling team, achieved third place in the men's elite category. "The roads here are smooth and wide, and the environment is beautiful, providing excellent conditions for competition," he noted. "I am thrilled to have the opportunity to compete and interact with fellow cyclists from various cities in the Greater Bay Area. If more cycling events are held in mainland cities within the Greater Bay Area in the future, we will eagerly participate."

In August, Binhaiwan Bay Area's Jiaji Bay was selected as one of Guangdong Province's first "Beautiful Bays." Thanks to years of ecological construction and comprehensive shoreline restoration, Binhaiwan has established approximately 7.5 kilometers of high-quality ecological coastline, along with a range of cultural and sports facilities.
