Guangdong Province launched its 2026 Forestry Science and Technology Week with a ceremony and main events on May 23, hosted by the county-level city of Xinyi in Maoming.

The event featured exhibitions, science outreach activities, industry promotion sessions, and seedling giveaways, highlighting the latest developments in forestry science and ecological conservation across the province.

During the opening ceremony, organizers released 10 representative cases showcasing how forestry technology supports ecological development in Guangdong, covering areas such as biodiversity conservation, germplasm resources, smart forestry, and the forest-based economy.
A seedling giveaway was also launched during the event. A total of 4,500 seedlings across 10 tree species, including Dipterocarpus alatus, Chinese black olive, and Chinese rosewood, were distributed. Among them, 4,000 seedlings will be used to support greening projects and forestry industry development at 10 rural demonstration sites in Xinyi, while the remaining 500 were distributed on-site to local residents.

The event also featured forestry technology exhibitions and interactive science activities. More than 20 forestry science education bases, research institutes, universities, and forestry enterprises showcased technologies related to ecological restoration, forest carbon monitoring, pest control, and forest-based economic development.

Experts and forestry technicians provided on-site consultations on tree planting, pest control, and forestry policies, while interactive displays and science activities introduced visitors to topics such as mangrove conservation and rare plant species.
