A launch event was held at the International Simultaneous Interpreting Lab on GDUFS's Baiyun Mountain Campus on December 14, representing a transformative moment in interpreting education. By employing AI, the platform aims to provide an interactive learning environment for students and teaching tools that streamline teachers' workloads, enabling them to focus more on research and in-depth mentoring.
Using AI-assisted learning, the platform evaluates student interpreting practices against China's Standards of English Language Ability (CSE), delivering personalized feedback that aligns with individual progress. While ensuring consistent, effective learning that can take place anytime and anywhere, the platform also records each student's practice sessions to create a detailed personal growth profile, enabling them to track their progress and achievements in interpreting skills over time.
Central to GDUFS' vision of blending technological innovation with humanities education, the "Interpret AI" platform is a collaborative achievement between GDUFS and Alibaba Cloud. At the launch event, Professor Wang Weiwei from the School of Interpreting and Translation Studies introduced the development process and capabilities of the platform while Dr. Qin Long, a senior algorithm expert at Alibaba Cloud, elaborated on the technical aspects of the PASI algorithm.
The debut of the PASI algorithm and the "Interpret AI" platform is not only a technological breakthrough in foreign language education but also a testament to GDUFS' proactive approach to the changing educational scene. By employing smart assessment tools, the university attempts to move beyond traditional teaching methods and deliver highly targeted, personalized instruction for students.
Looking ahead, GDUFS will remain committed to integrating state-of-the-art technologies into foreign language education so as to train multilingual professionals who excel in international communication and collaboration.
