Maoming Harvest Festival kicks off: Ukrainian family joins fish-catching fun

On September 29, Yana, a Ukrainian daughter-in-law from Maoming's Gaozhou, and her husband Xiaohei enthusiastically invited tourists to join the festivities at the Baiqiao Service Area (Meili Tiandi) along the Baotou-Maoming Expressway.

They had enjoyed the fish-catching fun in the "Fish Fun Zone." Maoming's celebration of the 2025 Chinese Farmers' Harvest Festival and the Golden Autumn Consumption Season officially kicked off that day.

The event offered a golden autumn feast integrating exhibition, sales, dining, and entertainment. Visitors could shop for premium agricultural products from across the city at the harvest market and immerse themselves in activities like fish-catching and farming sports.

The festive joy is rooted in strong industrial support. Maoming has cultivated characteristic industrial clusters known as "Five Trees and One Fish," with its total agricultural output value being the first in the province to exceed the 100-billion-yuan mark. In the first half of 2025, the city's total output value of agriculture, forestry, animal husbandry, and fishery reached 57.168 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 4.4%. The per capita disposable income of rural residents rose to 13,674 yuan, a growth of 5.5%.

At the event, Zhong Xiuwei, Deputy Director of the Maoming Agriculture and Rural Affairs Bureau, said: "We sincerely welcome everyone to Maoming for sightseeing and shopping, to taste our high-quality agricultural products, and to share in the joy of the harvest."
