Not Seoul, but Guangzhou: A city of flowers in full spring

A street photo taken in Guangzhou was reposted by a South Korean social media user as a scene in Seoul, drawing over one million views and triggering online debate.

The image, captured last November near Science City Metro Station in Huangpu District, Guangzhou, shows silk floss trees in bloom under warm afternoon light. A bus in the photo clearly displays the words "Guangzhou Bus," indicating its true location.

After netizens pointed out the mistake, the user said the post could not be edited. However, as a paid subscriber, he was believed to have editing access, raising doubts about his response. The original post was removed by March 29.

The incident has also brought renewed attention to Guangzhou's springtime scenery. Known as the "City of Flowers," the city bursts into color this season, with kapok blossoms lighting up the streets in vivid red and Bauhinia adding washes of purple. From sunlit boulevards to quiet neighborhood corners, spring offers countless picture-perfect moments—captured here in a selection of original photos showcasing the city's unique floral charm.
