In the Policy Address, Lee stated that the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region government will work with Guangdong and Macao to gradually expand the cross-border ambulance transfer service, which will include two-way patient transfers and cover designated hospitals in Zhuhai and Nansha.
He also mentioned that the Hong Kong Investment Corporation Ltd. will enhance cooperation with the Guangdong provincial government to support high-tech companies from Hong Kong, such as life and health technology startups, in strengthening cross-border industrial chains, with Nansha serving as a key base in the initial phase.
The Nansha Economic and Technological Development Zone Administrative Committee and the district government organized a health and wellness symposium in Hong Kong on the same day, gathering representatives from business associations, enterprises, and think tanks to discuss collaboration in medical services, medicine and equipment, insurance connectivity, capital flow, and policy coordination.

"Nansha is committed to building a city where residents of all ages can enjoy a sense of happiness," said Liu Wei, a member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Guangzhou Municipal Committee and secretary of the CPC Nansha District Committee.
Liu emphasized the solid foundation for cross-border elderly care cooperation between Nansha and Hong Kong, citing their geographical proximity, cultural affinity, linguistic commonality, and similar customs. "As the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area enters a new phase of development, Nansha and Hong Kong should join hands to seek more global opportunities," Liu said.
At the symposium, the Nansha Public Control Group announced the upcoming launch of the "Home for Care" project, which aims to provide high-quality, accessible medical services, convenient transportation, and a linguistically familiar living environment for elderly Hong Kong residents at affordable prices. The project will also explore the "hospital within a hospital" model aligned with Hong Kong's operational standards.
