Ormosia microphylla, a member of the genus Ormosia in the family Fabaceae, is the only species in its genus listed as a national first-class protected wild plant and a valuable timber species. In Guangdong Province, it can be found only in Meixian District and Dabu County of Meizhou City.
Due to strict habitat requirements and overexploitation in the past, its wild populations have declined drastically, highlighting the urgency of conservation efforts. This collaboration represents a constructive step toward integrating in-situ and ex-situ conservation.

Both sides exchanged views on the conservation status of Ormosia microphylla, as well as ex-situ conservation techniques and reintroduction strategies. Experts from the South China Botanical Garden, Chinese Academy of Sciences, shared relevant research findings and practical experience. Guided by specialists, participants then planted a batch of Ormosia microphylla seedlings in suitable habitats within the reserve.
