Located at the southernmost tip of the Chinese mainland, Zhanjiang is widely known for its blue seas, clear skies, and rich seafood. Beyond its coastal charm, the city is also home to Sanlingshan Forest Park—often referred to as its "urban green lung"—an important ecological barrier in western Guangdong that highlights Zhanjiang's unique blend of mountains and sea.

Situated near the urban center, the park offers a quick escape from the city's bustle into dense greenery, where birdsong and rustling leaves replace traffic noise. Thanks to its location on the northeastern Leizhou Peninsula within a tropical monsoon climate zone, Sanlingshan serves as a vital stopover along the East Asian–Australasian migratory bird route, attracting tens of thousands of birds each spring and autumn.

Today, the park has become a popular destination for nature education and outdoor leisure. With nature trails, educational signage, and low-light areas suitable for stargazing, it offers visitors a range of experiences—from birdwatching and forest walks to nighttime sky observation.
For travelers, a visit to Sanlingshan Forest Park adds an "ecological green" dimension to Zhanjiang's "ocean blue," revealing a quieter yet equally vibrant side of the city.
