The "2025 Earth Hour" China's main event will take place on March 22 in the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin.
The event will take place from 10:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Hengqin Culture and Art Complex, centered around the "Hengqin-Macao Planet" environmental carnival, which will include four main sections: exhibitions, marketplaces, salons, and interactive activities, immersing the public in the green lifestyle.
As the largest global public environmental event, "Earth Hour" advocates for individuals, communities, businesses, and governments to voluntarily turn off non-essential lighting and electrical devices for one hour to show concern for nature conservation and support environmental actions.
Thanks to its status as an ecological model city in the Greater Bay Area and the unique advantage of integration, Hengqin is honored to be the main host city for China this year, joining this global movement.
After collecting the card at the event service desk and completing the stamp collection from the four main sections, participants can receive Earth Hour 2025-themed gifts.
The exhibition area will immerse you in the Earth's majestic natural beauty and current fragility, confronting ecological crises and resonating with the audience through data and visual displays. The marketplace area will feature over a dozen stalls from well-known brands and prominent enterprises in Hengqin and Macao, offering insights into low-carbon lifestyles as you stroll through. The sharing area will host six thematic salon sessions throughout the day, focusing on cutting-edge topics such as climate change, green development in Hengqin and Macao, and carbon reduction initiatives. The interactive area will offer a variety of interactive games, where participants can learn about environmental protection and unlock exclusive prizes by winning the games.
As night falls, the lights-out ceremony will commence. The Choi Kou School (Macao) Choir and the Beijing Angel Chorus will sing together. Olympic champion He Chong will attend the ceremony, joining with public welfare organizations to encourage everyone to contribute their strengths and collectively "Turn off the lights, brighten the hope!"
From 8:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. on the night of March 22, major landmark buildings in Hengqin and Macao, such as Tianmu Qintai, Hengqin International Financial Center, and Macau Tower, will join iconic structures in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, and other cities in turning off their lights, sending a message to the world about the importance of addressing climate change and inspiring more people to take action for a better natural future.
