On October 14, the Guangdong Province Artificial Intelligence Industry Matchmaking Event was successfully held in Guangzhou by the Department of Commerce of Guangdong Province, as part of the 2025 Global Investment Promotion Conference for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA) series of events.
Through policy interpretation, promotion by key cities (development zones), enterprise roadshows, and project matchmaking, the event established an efficient cooperation platform for government departments, industrial chain enterprises, and financial investment institutions.
A list of proposed projects intending to establish a presence in Guangdong was officially released at the event, including 42 representative high-quality AI projects with development potential from 11 provinces and cities. The release also served as a platform for precise matchmaking and connection between projects, enterprises, development zones, and financial institutions.
During the promotion session for cities and development zones, representatives from Guangzhou's Haizhu Pazhou AI Large Model Application Demonstration Zone, Baiyunhu Digital Science and Technology City, and Shaoguan highlighted their respective locational advantages, policy support, business environment, and industrial foundation in the AI sector.
Among these, the Implementation Rules for Building the AI Large Model Application Demonstration Zone in Haizhu District, Guangzhou, as the nation's first industrial policy, specifically focused on the development of industry large models, aiming to establish a domestic benchmark for industry large models.
As the core engine of the GBA, Guangdong places significant emphasis on developing its artificial intelligence industry. In 2024, the core AI industry scale in Guangdong exceeded 220 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of approximately 25%, with more than 1,500 core enterprises.
Furthermore, Guangdong has released 63 large models and possesses 128 large and ultra-large data centers, providing robust computing power support for the development of the AI industry. Enterprises are encouraged to seize the opportunity and participate in the development of Guangdong's AI industry for mutual benefit and win-win cooperation.
The successful hosting of the matchmaking event has established a precise and efficient channel for connecting the AI industry with investment opportunities. During the project matchmaking phase, enterprises and investment institutions engaged in in-depth discussions surrounding technological barriers, market prospects, and cooperation models, expressing confidence in the outlook for Guangdong's AI industry development.
