Zhuhai-made largest offshore wind turbine jacket for Europe delivered

On December 23, the jacket foundation—a core piece of equipment weighing over 10,000 metric tons—for the Inch Cape Offshore Wind Farm project was dispatched from Zhuhai. This marks the largest single-unit offshore wind turbine jacket ever manufactured in China for the European market.

The Inch Cape Offshore Wind Farm project is located in the North Sea, off the coast of Scotland. Co-developed by Red Rock Renewables (a wholly owned subsidiary of China Investment Corporation) and ESB, an Irish utility company, the project will be capable of supplying electricity to more than half of all households in Scotland. The CNOOC Zhuhai Deepwater Equipment Manufacturing Base is responsible for manufacturing 18 jacket structures, 18 sets of steel piles, and 24 single-pile transition pieces.

The current delivery consists of three jacket foundations and 11 single-pile transition sections, totaling 13,850 metric tons. Each jacket stands at a height of 95.19 meters. Luo Jianmin, the deputy project manager, stated that the project team has pioneered the global application of the "side V" construction methodology for wind turbine jackets and achieved 100% domestic fabrication of core structural components.
