International conference on wind power technology innovation takes place in Shantou

The 2024 Swatow International Wind Power Technology Innovation Conference was held in Shantou from December 4 to 6. With the theme "Exploring New Models for Wind Power Development and Expanding New Spaces for International Cooperation," the conference brought together nearly 600 government officials, international organization representatives, diplomats, experts, academicians, and corporate executives from more than 20 countries and regions worldwide. The participants analyzed global trends in the offshore wind power industry to promote international exchange and cooperation in the field.

As China's 14th Five-Year Plan for Renewable Energy Development is progressively implemented, Shantou, with its rich offshore wind resources, is accelerating the construction of a 10-million-kilowatt offshore wind power base in Eastern Guangdong. In recent years, focusing on the goal of establishing the International Wind Power Innovation Hub, Shantou has been working to build a full industrial chain ecosystem for offshore wind power centered on high-end equipment manufacturing, supported by the development of 60 million kilowatts of offshore wind resources. So far, Shantou has launched 15 offshore wind power-related projects, with the offshore wind power equipment manufacturing industry beginning to take shape.

The conference released several achievements in building Shantou into an international wind power innovation hub. Notably, the world's first offshore wind power equipment manufacturing industrial park for "integration in four aspects" began operations; Goldwind's next-generation 22-megawatt deep-sea turbine unit rolled off the production line; and the construction of the Shantou offshore wind power concentrated transmission project (onshore portion) in Chaoyang District, Shantou was initiated.

The conference also hosted several signing ceremonies, including the signing of agreements for the Eastern Guangdong offshore wind power base site three's 3-million-kilowatt project and related industrial chain projects, the signing of a cooperation agreement between the Shantou International Wind Power Innovation Hub training center and Norway's Energy Innovation training center, and the establishment of the Chinese working group and Shantou workstation under the Clean Energy Marine Hubs (CEM Hubs) initiative.
