Mongolian dance meets Lingnan architecture: International students visit Guangzhou

On January 12, a group of 21 international students studying in China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, from countries including Mongolia, Laos and Ghana, arrived in Guangzhou to begin a five-day tour of Guangdong. The first day's theme was "New Vitality in an Old City."

The group made its first stop at Shamian Island, a famous historical sightseeing district and historic preservation area in Guangzhou, which served as the concession of Britain and France in the 19th century, featuring European-style architecture blended with Lingnan cultural elements.

They then strolled through Yong Qing Fang, experiencing the charm of traditional intangible cultural heritage and visiting the former residence of Bruce Lee, gaining first-hand insight into the revitalization of historic urban areas.

At Yong Qing Fang, the students also performed and filmed a traditional Mongolian dance amid the Lingnan-style architecture for sharing on their social media.

In the evening, the group ascended the Canton Tower, where panoramic views of the Pearl River's nightscape and the city's CBD offered a vivid sense of Guangzhou's dynamic development.

Traveling from northern China to the country's southern gateway, the students remarked on the environmental differences between the two regions, describing Guangzhou as clean, modern, and beautiful. "Here, we feel a diverse China," one student said.

In the coming days, the delegation will visit cities including Shenzhen and Foshan, conducting in-depth studies on themes such as artificial intelligence, ecological protection, technological innovation, and the preservation of intangible cultural heritage to further deepen their understanding of China.
