Jiangmen's Xinhui old tangerine peels go global

Jiangmen's Xinhui chenpi, the sun-dried tangerine peel, has long been regarded as a treasure with both medicinal and culinary value. By 2024, the planting area of Xinhui District's tangerines reached 143,000 mu (approx. 9,533 hectares), with an annual output of 180,000 tons.

The industry's total chain value hit 26.1 billion yuan, making it a key component of rural revitalization in Jiangmen and Guangdong.

To support chenpi exports, Jiangmen Customs provides comprehensive guidance—from orchard registration to streamlined customs clearance—and assists farmers with licensing and compliance.

In Xinhui Chenpi Village, workers process freshly harvested tangerines by peeling, sun-drying, baking, and aging. Each packaged box is labeled with a unique QR code that traces the product's origin, harvest time, and quality reports. This full-chain traceability system, developed by Jiangmen Customs and local enterprises, ensures authentic and high-quality chenpi.

Jiangmen Customs has facilitated the movement of Xinhui dried tangerine peel from the fields to the world's dining tables. From January to October this year, Jiangmen Customs supervised the export of 530 tons of chenpi and related products, reflecting a year-on-year increase of 14%.
