Air Astana has announced a new direct air route between Guangzhou and Astana, the capital of Kazakhstan, set to begin on June 3, as the carrier expands its footprint in China.
The service will operate twice weekly—on Wednesdays and Fridays—using the Airbus A321LR aircraft. Flights from Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport are scheduled to depart early morning and arrive in Astana after roughly four and a half hours; return flights will leave Astana in the evening, landing in Guangzhou the following morning.
The new route will complement the airline's existing Guangzhou-Almaty service launched in March 2025, which currently runs four times a week and is expected to increase to five weekly flights from early June.
Astana is the capital of Kazakhstan and serves as the country's political center as well as a key hub for culture, business, and transport. The new route is expected to strengthen commercial, tourism, and cultural links between Kazakhstan and China. Travellers departing from Guangzhou will also be able to transfer via Astana to destinations within Kazakhstan and across Central Asia and Europe, including Frankfurt, Istanbul, and Larnaca.
