Former granary transformed into rural art museum in Gaozhou, Guangdong

A former granary has been revitalized into a contemporary rural art museum in Xinghua Village, Gaozhou City, Maoming, Guangdong. A Chinese New Year–themed art exhibition is currently underway and will run through March.

The exhibition features more than 100 artworks displayed against preserved wooden beams and brick walls, blending history with creativity. Many pieces draw inspiration from local produce such as longan and lychee, alongside paintings, designs, and handicrafts created by village children using natural materials.

Beyond the exhibition, the venue serves as a hub for rural aesthetic living, offering hands-on workshops and experiences in intangible cultural heritage. Through the fusion of ancient architecture and modern art, the space presents a vivid and dynamic vision of China's countryside.
