The Traditional Chinese Medicine Science & Technology Industrial Park of Cooperation Between Guangdong & Macao (GMTCM Park) in Hengqin has become the first institution in China officially authorized to publish Portuguese regulations on drugs, dietary supplements, and cosmetics. The authorization comes from Portugal's National Authority of Medicines and Health Products (INFARMED) and the Directorate-General for Food and Veterinary (DGAV).
In October 2025, GMTCM Park and the Macao Health Bureau co-hosted a TCM Registration Seminar in Lisbon. The event brought together Portuguese regulatory authorities and Chinese industry representatives to discuss regulatory alignment and ways to enhance compliance efficiency for TCM products entering the Portuguese market.
Since its establishment, the park has supported over 100 pharmaceutical companies, including Macao-based firms, providing comprehensive international services across registration, market research, distribution, and brand promotion. Highlights include plant-based medicine registration in Mozambique, registering more than a dozen products; achieving regulatory approvals for 12 TCM products in Brazil; and completing the registration of a Chinese herbal medicine in four EU member states.
