Spring Festival travel rush to begin, Guangdong adds more trains

The 2025 Spring Festival travel rush, also known as "Chunyun", will last from January 14 to February 22. Guangdong railway authorities expect the pre-holiday peak to fall on January 25, with passenger flows driven by students, migrant workers, family visits, and tourists.

Guangdong's railways handled 960,000 passengers on January 9, up 29.6% year-on-year. Popular routes include Guangzhou to Changsha, Guangzhou to Wuhan, Guangzhou to Chongqing, Shenzhen to Changsha, and Shenzhen to Wuhan. Tickets for some routes from January 14 to 23 are already sold out, and travelers are encouraged to avoid peak times.
