From March 23 to 25, the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin took center stage in the global vocational skills arena as it hosted the fifth national training and exchange session for the hotel reception category of the 48th WorldSkills Competition.

Contestants and expert coaching teams from both the Chinese mainland and Macao SAR gathered at the Angsana Hotel, which has recently been designated as a secondary training base for the national team.
This intensive three-day program marks a critical milestone in the joint preparations for the upcoming WorldSkills Competition, scheduled to take place in Shanghai in September 2026.
The event highlights a significant breakthrough in regional vocational synergy. Following an official announcement by the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security, the Angsana Hotel facility has been approved as a national training base, being the first facility of its kind to be co-constructed by Guangdong and Macao, standing as a testament to the innovative integration of professional skill standards.
Throughout the session, participants engaged in a high-standard curriculum designed around the framework of the 48th WorldSkills hotel reception project. The training combined theoretical sharing with rigorous practical drills and real-world arena simulations to sharpen the contestants' competitive edge.
Adding a layer of professional depth, the event invited senior hotel executives from Macao to share industry insights. This direct exposure to the cutting-edge service standards of international hotel brands provided the athletes with a broader global perspective and a deeper understanding of modern hospitality excellence.
Xu Fengmei, Deputy Director of the Livelihood Affairs Bureau of Hengqin, emphasized that the training base remains committed to world-class standards. By rooting itself in Hengqin while serving Macao and connecting with the international community, the base aims to become a premier platform for skill cultivation, competitive exchange, and talent incubation.
Moving forward, by utilizing these state-of-the-art training facilities, Hengqin intends to host more high-profile international invitational tournaments and exchange activities. These initiatives are designed to foster a collaborative environment where contestants from both the mainland and Macao can elevate their expertise together, ultimately aiming for a historic breakthrough on the world stage in Shanghai.
