Maoming's "Nine Measures" drive 26% growth in village collective economy

Village collectives in Maoming have seen their total revenue soar 26.83% year-on-year to 840.77 million yuan, reflecting the success of the city's "Nine Measures" to strengthen the village-level economy. Introduced last year, these policies address uneven development and limited self-sufficiency, focusing on resource revitalization, industrial development, talent cultivation, and incentive mechanisms.

By linking village officials' income to collective economic performance, the measures have energized grassroots cadres, with performance-based rewards already distributed in some villages. Maoming has also established 310 "Strong Town and Prosperous Village" companies, 40 of which employ professional managers for market-oriented operations, and 42 companies have already generated revenue, promoting resource integration and sustainable growth.

Talent development has been central to Maoming's rural revitalization. The city has trained over 10,000 "New Farmers" and rural artisans and established a systematic framework for attracting and nurturing talent. Meanwhile, the "Xin Hao" (meaning good-hearted) agricultural brand now includes 75 certified products, steadily increasing its market influence.

In the first half of 2025, rural residents in Maoming saw their per capita disposable income rise 5.5% year-on-year to 13,674 yuan, outpacing urban growth and narrowing the urban-rural income gap.
