The Planning and Natural Resources Bureau of Nansha Economic and Technological Development Zone of Guangzhou Municipality has officially launched the Nansha Bay International Urban Design Competition, titled "Charting Future: A New Chapter of Maritime Prosperity."
The event invites design professionals, creative talent, and young innovators worldwide to envision the future of Nansha Bay, a coastal new town at the Pearl River Estuary renowned for its unique integration of "mountains, city, sea, and port."
The competition features two categories:
Professional Group – open to domestic and international design firms or consortia (up to three members, including at least one from the Chinese mainland). Pre-qualification documents must be submitted by 24:00, October 28, 2025 (Beijing Time) via email: gznsghyjzx@163.com.
Youth Group – open to individuals or teams worldwide without restrictions on background. Submissions are due by 24:00, December 15, 2025 (Beijing Time) via email: gznsghyjzx@163.com.
Prizes
Professional Group: Three winners (2 million yuan each) and three finalists (1 million yuan each).
Youth Group: First Prize (3×30,000 yuan), Second Prize (5×20,000 yuan), Third Prize (10×10,000 yuan), and Best Popularity Award (3×20,000 yuan).
A kick-off meeting and site visit will be held on October 19, 2025, in Nansha District. Registration is open until October 16, free of charge. Participants may register via QR code.
Competition Site
The competition site is located in Gangwan Sub-district, Nansha District, Guangzhou, China, covering an area of approximately 55 km², which includes about 30 km² of land area and 25 km² of sea area.

Situated at the gateway of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, Nansha Bay is one of the three pioneer development zones in the Nansha Plan, set to become a hub for marine innovation, cultural tourism, and global collaboration.
The event is hosted by the Administrative Committee of Nansha Economic and Technological Development Zone & Nansha District People's Government, organized by the Planning and Natural Resources Bureau of Nansha Economic and Technological Development Zone of Guangzhou Municipality, and co-organized by Fok Ying Tung Foundation Limited and Guangzhou Nansha Assets Operation Group Limited.
