According to the Guangdong Provincial Public Resource Trading Platform, the Maoming Smart Cultural Tourism Ecological Comprehensive Development Project (Guangdong South China Wildlife Park) has initiated the design and construction general contracting tender for the first-phase pilot area (Predator Zone). The total investment for the project amounts to 165.9 million yuan, marking the substantive construction for the largest zoo project in western Guangdong.

As the core section of the project's initial phase, the Predator Zone will feature comprehensive facilities, including animal enclosures, visitor queuing areas, animal exhibition zones, landscape enrichment, entrance and exit scenes, and other necessary infrastructure, offering visitors an immersive predator viewing experience.
The wildlife park is located east of Maoming Forest Park and is part of the upgrade and renovation project for the park. After the upgrade, the new zoo's recreational area will be three to four times larger than the original Maoming Forest Park.

According to the plan, the overall project is initially scheduled for three phases of construction. In addition to the Predator Zone, the first phase will also include Lychee Square, a self-drive zone, a logistics management area, and P1 and P2 parking lots, establishing the core framework of the project. The second phase will feature distinctive areas such as Joy Square, Asia Zone, Africa Zone, and Lingnan National Treasure Zone, enriching the variety of animal exhibits and recreational experiences. The third phase will involve the construction of a rainforest zone and reserved areas, leaving ample space for future development and ensuring sustainable progress.
