On October 13, a cooperation agreement on the integration of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) & Health + Tourism was jointly signed by the TCM Science and Technology Industrial Park of Guangdong and Macao, the Macao Hotel and Tourism Association, the Macao Travel Agency Association, and the Macao Tourism Development Think Tank.
The collaboration will primarily focus on three key directions: promoting product innovation to develop "Macao + Hengqin" multi-stop themed tourism products and creating an international TCM health tourism brand that integrates wellness retreats, cultural experiences, and scientific education; strengthening industrial empowerment by jointly conducting research projects and promoting the standardization of TCM health tourism; and enhancing brand promotion by integrating communication resources from both sides to elevate the Macao-Hengqin TCM cultural tourism IP, expanding its reach in the Guangdong–Hong Kong–Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA) and beyond.
According to the agreement, the parties will engage in in-depth collaboration across multiple areas. This includes jointly researching integration pathways for the "Tourism + TCM & Health" industries in Macao and Hengqin, as well as integrating resources and designing projects that connect tourism industry players with TCM & Health resources to create "multi-stop" tourism itineraries.
The development and promotion of the Macao-Hengqin cultural tourism brand will also be strengthened through joint promotional events, international exhibitions, and other channels to increase brand exposure. Additionally, cooperation mechanisms will be improved by establishing a tourism resource information-sharing platform, conducting market research, and implementing joint training programs.
