Maoming's Gaozhou, China's hometown of lychees, launches global ARF mini-drama script competition

Nestled in the verdant landscapes of southwestern Guangdong, Gaozhou in Maoming City—renowned as China's "hometown of lychees"—has launched a global script competition for Agriculture, Rural Areas, and Farmers (ARF) mini-dramas.

As a leading agricultural city in Guangdong, Gaozhou is advancing the High-quality Development Project for Counties, Towns, and Villages through its "Media+" initiative, blending digital content with rural modernization. So far, 108 film crews have produced 108 ARF mini-dramas, including New Dreams in Litchi Homeland, boosting local specialty sales and farmers' incomes. In Tandi Village, collective income has risen by 40%, with per capita annual income reaching nearly 10,000 yuan.

The event featured a creation conference and an innovation think-tank session, alongside the launch of several collaborative institutions: a joint creation studio with the China Agricultural Film and Television Center, a research institute with Pearl River College of South China Agricultural University, and an international creation center with CRI Online and the Guangdong Film Artists Association. These partnerships aim to drive long-term growth in the industry.
