New assembly, new engines, new standards—the future of green energy took shape in Yangjiang! From December 5–6, the city hosted the Green Energy Industry Science and Technology Innovation Sub-forum of the 2025 Greater Bay Area Science Forum to turn vision into action.

Centered on the theme "Technology and Innovation Leadership: From the 'Yangjiang Initiative' to New Standards for the Green Energy Industry," the forum aimed to integrate closely with Yangjiang's positioning as the "Capital of Green Energy, Famous City on the Maritime Silk Road," striving to establish a platform for collaboration in the green energy sector.

There are three notable "new" highlights in this forum:
A new top-tier assembly. The event attracted numerous academicians, experts, and representatives from enterprises. Leung Chun-ying, Vice Chairman of the 14th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, and Erik Solheim, former United Nations Under-Secretary-General, delivered video addresses. Eleven academicians, along with over 70 experts, engaged in in-depth discussions on cutting-edge green energy technologies.

A new development engine. Several major sci-tech projects were advanced, including the release of the "City-level Virtual Power Plant" system. The Yangjiang Municipal Government also signed international mutual recognition agreements for product carbon footprint certification with international bodies TÜV Rheinland and SGS.
A new leading standard. The forum marked the nationwide debut of The Product Carbon Footprint Evaluation Standard for Zero-Carbon Parks. This signifies a crucial first step toward standardization in establishing zero-carbon parks and building a zero-carbon industrial system.

The forum realized a leap from conceptual initiative to industrial standards. It aims to transform Yangjiang's practical experience into replicable green benchmarks, providing support for green productivity in the Greater Bay Area and nationwide.
