Guangzhou to speed up construction of these intercity rails

The construction of Guangzhou East Railway Station - Huadu Tiangui Intercity Rail and Fangcun - Baiyun Airport Intercity Rail will be accelerated, according to the latest notice released by Guangzhou Municipal Transportation Bureau.

The platforms and stations have been named as the initial intercity rail maps were drawn up. What does each station have to offer? Here are the details:

The Guangzhou East Railway Station - Huadu Tiangui Intercity Rail (Metro Line 18 North Extension) has 7 stations, all connecting to other metro lines and intercity rails that are still under planning.

With an average distance of about 5.7 km, it is expected to be opened to traffic by the end of 2026. By then, it will take only 30 minutes to travel from the city center to the downtown of Huadu district and then Guangzhou Biayun International Airport.

In addition, with a total length of 41.1 kilometers, the Fangcun - Baiyun Airport Intercity Rail (Metro Line 22 North Extension) is laid fully underground, and has 10 stations, all of which are transfer stations.

Starting from Fangcun to Airport North, the design speed of this project is 160 km/h. It will only take 45 minutes to get from Nansha to Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport.

As important parts of the intercity rail projects in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, the two lines are critical to promote the regional integration and connectivity between other transport hubs.
