IP Guangdong debuts today! Comprehensive image branding platform opens to world

On July 2, IP Guangdong, a comprehensive image branding platform for Guangdong, made its official debut and simultaneously launched a global call for urban image submissions.

Operated by South, Guangdong's flagship international media outlet, IP Guangdong aims to build an integrated platform for Guangdong image branding, international communication, content co-creation, and IP incubation. Combining functions like content collection, global dissemination, and creative innovation, it seeks to establish a new international communication model characterized by co-creation, co-sharing, and co-promotion.

Creation by All: Showcasing Guangdong to the World

"IP Guangdong is a stage where everyone can create and share the Guangdong IP," said Zhao Yang, the project lead and Editor-in-Chief of South. The platform aims to activate and connect creative talent from the public, serving as a "visual showcase of Guangdong" to display the Guangdong IP and leverage the province's demographic strengths, creativity, and international advantages to amplify the impact of its international communication.

The platform has established a working system of"one library, one network, one community, and one mechanism": Building a globally influential resource library showcasing the unique charm of China, the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA), and Guangdong; Creating an international communication network covering "website + client channels + video accounts + overseas social media platforms" Bringing together professional creators and enthusiasts in fields like photography, videography, design, fine arts, and animation; Forming a mechanism for domestic and international participation in incubating the Guangdong IP.

Accessible globally via its Chinese-English bilingual website (www.ipguangdong.cn), the visual channel on the South application, and its social media accounts, the platform invites submissions including photographs, videos, designs, animations, articles, publications, and music. These resources showcase Guangdong through multiple lenses: Fashion in the GBA, Opportunity in the GBA, Artistic Creativity, Urban Charm in Light and Shadow, Green Ecological Beauty, Extraordinary Stories of Ordinary People, Culinary Delights of Guangdong, and Dynamic Technological Innovation. Together, they present a comprehensive portrait of Guangdong as vibrant, opportunity-rich, culturally profound, ecologically beautiful, and happily livable, collectively building an aggregated resource library for Guangdong's urban image.

IP Guangdong will also integrate with South's overseas communication network to enable multilingual dissemination.

Sharing by all: GBA influencers lead the way

"Beyond enabling user registration, signing agreements, uploading, sharing, and collaboration, our professional team will also create secondary creations and releases, organize regular themed campaigns and collection activities, and facilitate co-creation with partners across society," Zhao Yang explained. To encourage participation, the platform will distribute outstanding works through domestic and global channels, offer online copyright trading, and recognize top creators to provide them with offline exhibition opportunities. Currently, 712 individual creators and 76 organizations have joined IP Guangdong.

At the launch ceremony, prominent artistic creators were appointed as Guest Contributors, including sculptor Xu Hongfei, artist Wang Shaoqiang, painter Jin Cheng, Li Jiejun (Chairman of the Guangdong Photographers Association), Chen Bingzhong (President of the Hong Kong Branch of the China Photographers Association), Huang Minghui (President of the Photographic Society of Macao), Liu Pingyun (Head of the visual design team for the 15th National Games and National Paralympic Games), and Lin Dihuan (Creator of "Xiaolin Comics"). Renowned Hong Kong designer Kan Tai-keung and influential GBA video blogger "yiweirabbit" were also among the first to join. The platform announced the upcoming release of the "Guangdong on the Rise: the High-Quality Development Project for Guangdong’s Counties, Towns, and Villages" (粤来粤好百千万) series of 100 short videos. Concurrently, the "Passionate 15th National Games: CHILL & Awesome!" (激情十五运CHILL好看) public campaign was launched to crowdsource creative content.

"IP Guangdong is an excellent platform where everyone can create and share," said Xu Hongfei, Guest Contributor to IP Guangdong and renowned sculptor. "It means audiences worldwide can discover the essence of a city through its people."

"This is neither an ordinary digital media platform nor a simple image or video library," he added. "It's a collaborative resource-sharing platform operating under government guidance, media operation, public creation, and market participation. It empowers everyone to become Guangdong's digital ambassador – truly a promising initiative."
