To promote cultural and artistic exchanges and cooperation within the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA), and to enhance the region's cultural soft power, the Department of Culture and Tourism of Guangdong Province officially announced on May 23 that it is now inviting submissions for performance programs and main visual designs for the 5th Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA) Culture and Arts Festival (hereinafter referred to as "the Festival").
Call for 60 exquisite artistic performance programs
This year's festival plans to collect around 60 outstanding performance programs, encompassing diverse art forms such as traditional Chinese opera, drama, dance drama, musicals, Western opera, acrobatic drama, children's drama, and concerts. Among them, classic foreign programs will account for approximately 30%, excellent domestic programs for 40%, and outstanding programs from within the province for 30%.
Applicants can include performance brokerage agencies, artistic troupes, and performance venues. The application deadline is June 15. Performance programs are required to be staged publicly in Guangdong for at least two shows between September and October 2025. Joint performances across multiple theaters in the GBA are encouraged. The organizers will provide financial subsidies to selected programs. Projects that premiere in Guangdong or choose Guangdong as their sole domestic performance destination will receive an increased subsidy rate and be awarded a "Distinguished Participating Production" certificate, along with promotional support.
Simultaneous call for main visual design with a prize of 5,000 yuan
To enhance the Festival's brand image, the organizers have also launched an open call for main visual designs, inviting design institutions and individuals both domestically and internationally. The design should closely adhere to the theme "Charming GBA, Brilliant Arts" and reflect the cultural characteristics of the GBA, while also being artistically expressive and communicative.
The application deadline is June 30. Ultimately, 6 outstanding works will be selected, each receiving a prize of 5,000 yuan. The chosen main visual design will be used in various promotional materials for the Festival, and the designer will be required to cooperate with subsequent in-depth design work.
This year's festival will continue to uphold the concept of "Literature and Art for the People," requiring selected performance programs to offer discounted tickets, low-cost tickets, or student tickets. Participating teams are also encouraged to stage public flash performances in business districts, squares, parks, and other public spaces, integrating art into urban life.
