Lychee, Guangdong’s signature summer fruit, is heading overseas in force. With 60 tons of freshly harvested lychee en route to North America, the province marked the official launch of its 2025 export season in Guangzhou on May 18.

At the center of the initiative is Zungly Agriculture Group, which hosted a high-profile export kick-off and product launch, unveiling new lychee varieties aimed at international markets. The event saw the first shipment dispatched from the group’s Guangzhou warehouse, marking a significant step in bringing China’s premium lychee to global consumers.

Backed by a strategic alliance between government agencies, research institutions, and companies across ten Guangdong cities, the campaign is part of a broader effort to build a year-round export ecosystem for lychee. The initiative spans major lychee-producing hubs, including Maoming, Zhanjiang, and Huizhou, enabling a full-season supply through a mix of early-, mid-, and late-ripening varieties.

The Zungly Agriculture Group also introduced new high-quality products to support year-round exports, reinforcing its focus on quality and market differentiation with three premium varieties of lychee unveiled on-site. Capping off the event, the group introduced a Cantonese opera-inspired mascot that blends tradition with brand identity to promote Lingnan fruit culture on the global stage.
