On October 30, a delegation of the Malaysia-Macao Chamber of Commerce visited the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin.
During the visit, the delegation learned about the development planning, preferential policies and market demands of the Cooperation Zone, and had in-depth exchanges about strengthening the bilateral cooperation.
António Lei, director of the Economic Development Bureau of the Cooperation Zone, introduced the overall development, industrial layout and policy measures of the Cooperation Zone. He said that in order to promote the moderate diversification of Macao's economy, the Cooperation Zone has been actively developing the four major industries, which include sci-tech research and high-end manufacturing, traditional Chinese medicine, cultural tourism, convention and exhibition, and modern finance. And the Cooperation Zone has also launched a series of policies and measures to promote industrial development and improve the business environment.
Furthermore, the Cooperation Zone can offer a bigger development platform for Malaysian enterprises while enhancing its institutional system connectivity with Macao and aligning that with the world.
The delegation visited the Planning Exhibition Hall, the Macao-Hengqin Youth Entrepreneurship Valley, and the Traditional Chinese Medicine Science and Technology Industrial Park of Co-operation between Guangdong and Macao, to fully understand the geographical advantages and industrial development of the Cooperation Zone, as well as the advantages for the integrated development between Hengqin and Macao. The delegation also had discussions about further strengthening the economic and trade cooperation between Malaysia, China's Macao and Hengqin.
In the next step, the Cooperation Zone will continue having exchanges with business associations with the aim of strengthening communication and promoting economic and trade cooperation. In the meantime, it will provide more comprehensive policy information and services to attract more high-quality projects from overseas to settle in Hengqin.
